History Centre temporary closure

As part of the work towards building the new Eternal Egypt gallery the History Centre will be moving to its new permanent home on the ground floor in the Central Library.

The History Centre closes on Sunday, October 23 and reopens on Monday, November 28.

Preparations underway for new Egyptology gallery

Work on the museum's new tribute to ancient Egypt is set to start in December.

A new gallery, entitled Eternal Egypt, will be built in the current art gallery, history centre and temporary exhibition gallery.

In order for the work to take place, the museum will be closed to the public for the duration of the project.
