Netsuke fox: This netsuke shows a fox wearing a dress and a cloak. According to ancient Japanese beliefs, the fox is a magical creature that is able to transform itself into a human figure. Bequeathed by Miss Edith Taylor in 1959

Netsuke: Wooden netsuke depicting a house with a bridge and tree with large cones, figures on the bridge and in a room. Netsuke has a movable part as a frog/snake pops out at the bottom of the house. Two cord-holes, one underneath leading through to back. Marked underneath
Netsuke: Ivory Netsuke depicting a Chinese holy man or Sennin with a toad on his shoulder. (Related to Mitzuyoshi). Gama Sennin cured a sick toad of its illness. The toad turned out to be a wise demon in disguise. As a reward for his kindness, the toad told Gama Sennin many secrets.
Netsuke: Gold lacquered ivory netsuke in the form of a hexagon in two parts. The first part, which is decorated with three demons, fits inside the second, which has windows through which the demons can be seen. One cord-hole underneath.

Netsuke: This netsuke shows seven sailors aboard a boat that is shaped like a sea dragon. The sailors represent the Seven Gods of Good Fortune. These gods are sometimes called the Seven Gods of Happiness. Bequeathed by Miss Edith Taylor in 1959

Netsuke: This man is Handaka Sonja who is one of the Rakan. A dragon is emerging from his begging bowl. Rakan are the sixteen followers of Buddha, they are recognisable by their bald heads, long ears and large eyebrows. Bequeathed by Miss Edith Taylor in 1959.
