The Tyrannosaurus rex skull on display in the museum entrance was the first dinosaur we acquired, in 1968, for the princely sum of £200. It was purchased from the American Museum of Natural History in New York who hold the original specimen.

Head of Tyrannosaurus Rex

It was actually the third specimen of T.rex ever found. It was discovered by Barnum Brown at Hell Creek, Montana in the USA and was described and named by Henry Fairfield Osborn in 1905.
The name means “Tyrant lizard king”.
