Using the Museum collection as the starting point, pupils will actively participate in a range of educational and fun activities.
Take a journey through Bolton Museum and see the world!
Venue:
- Bolton Museum
Note: All sessions at the Museum are free to schools within the Bolton Local Authority
Aim:
- To explore how signs and symbols can be used to communicate ideas and meanings about museum artefacts.
Objectives:
- To create group “scrolls” using the pupils’ drawings of symbols to represent their journey through the Museum.
- To appreciate artefacts from other countries and cultures.
- To observe and draw patterns found on natural and made objects from around the world.

This interactive workshop links to the Key Stage 2 Schemes of Work for:
- Art and Design Unit 4C: Journeys.
- Art and Design Unit 9: Visiting a museum or gallery.
- N.C. Programmes of study:

Your pupils will be given the opportunity to explore and discover natural and made objects from Australia to Zimbabwe.
