Journeys (KS2)

Using the Museum collection as the starting point, pupils will actively participate in a range of educational and fun activities.

Take a journey through Bolton Museum and see the world!

Venue:

  • Bolton Museum

Note: All sessions at the Museum are free to schools within the Bolton Local Authority

Aim:

  • To explore how signs and symbols can be used to communicate ideas and meanings about museum artefacts.

Objectives:

  • To create group “scrolls” using the pupils’ drawings of symbols to represent their journey through the Museum.
  • To appreciate artefacts from other countries and cultures.
  • To observe and draw patterns found on natural and made objects from around the world.

This interactive workshop links to the Key Stage 2 Schemes of Work for:

  • Art and Design Unit 4C: Journeys.
  • Art and Design Unit 9: Visiting a museum or gallery.
  • N.C. Programmes of study:
    • Art: 1: Exploring and developing ideas.
    • Geography: 2c: To use maps and plans.

Your pupils will be given the opportunity to explore and discover natural and made objects from Australia to Zimbabwe.
