Connecting With Collections
This is an exciting initiative that explores the potential of using museum and gallery collections as inspiring learning tools for schools. Children and young people are introduced to a wide range of objects and artefacts by curators and then given the opportunity to work with a number of creative professionals.
Artists, musicians, dancers, writers and drama practitioners use a range of approaches and learning styles to encourage the children to develop their thoughts and express their ideas, based on the exhibits they have seen.
By learning how to unlock the magic of art and artefacts the children work closely together, learn how to express themselves more freely and are taught about important issues from around the world. In return museum staff will use findings and feedback from the project to shape the way that future displays and exhibitions will be presented.
