Any Old Bones (KS2)

Your pupils will be able to participate in fun, science based activities, which will encourage them to look closely at bones and skeletons.

Venue:

  • Bolton Museum

Note: All sessions at the Museum are free to schools within the Bolton Local Authority

Aims:

  • To help children gain a greater understanding of the natural world through exciting “hands on” scientific enquiry.
  • To use the evidence provided by the bones and skeletons of a variety of animals to make observations & comparisons about these animals and their environment.

Objectives:

  • Become a natural history explorer and record observations through annotated sketches.
  • Discover which groups of animals do not have an internal skeleton.
  • Compare and study skeletons from different animals focusing on their structures and movement.
  • Investigate the lifestyles of the animals to discover how the skeletons have changed and adapted.
