Rock Around the Clock (KS2)

Your pupils will be able to participate in fun, science based activities, which will encourage them to look closely at rocks and minerals.

Venue:

  • Bolton Museum

Note: All sessions at the Museum are free to schools within the Bolton Local Authority

Aims:

  • To help children gain a greater understanding of the natural world through exciting “hands on” scientific enquiry.
  • To participate in interactive experiments to compare and explore the properties of a variety of rocks and minerals.

Objectives:

  • Investigate rocks and minerals as a junior geologist.
  • Participate in fun experiments to demonstrate the weathering process.
  • Handle volcanic material and ancient fossils.
  • Compare and classify a range of rocks and minerals according to observable characteristics.
