Tree frog found in French lettuce

This little frog hitched a ride to Bolton hidden in a lettuce grown over in France.
The local RSPCA bought it in for identification and to see if the Museum could find it a new home.
This is the second frog found in local supermarket produce in recent weeks
It turns out that the 1 and a half inch traveller is a European tree frog; one of only two species found on the mainland.
These creatures eat small insects so need to be quite agile. The new visitor proved this when it managed to launch itself and succesfully land on several members of staff at the museum.
Don Stenhouse, Keeper of Natural History, took pity on the itinerant amphibian and has taken it home for safe keeping.
Update: the frog is a Stripeless Tree-frog "Hyla meridionalis"
