The following information gives you answers to the most frequently asked questions about wedding receptions held at Smithills Hall.

Will mine be the only wedding at the venue on our wedding day?

Whilst we cannot guarantee that yours will be the only wedding on the day we do guarantee that you will be the only person getting married at that time.  We are able to arrange exclusive use of the Hall, talk to us about costs.

How many car-parking spaces are available?

Outside the Hall there is parking for the bridal cars and any disabled guests.  All other cars must be parked in the main car park, which is a very short walk from the Hall.

Taking photographs and videoing.

You are more than welcome to take photographs and video your ceremony for personal use.  (Should you require any images for commercial use please arrange this with us separately, prior to the day).

You are able to have photographs taken in the Great Hall, Withdrawing Room and the Bower Room and throughout the grounds of the Hall.

Can we throw confetti at the venue?

We allow both biodegradable and real flower petals to be used.

Can we have candles lit in the venue?

Unfortunately due to the valuable items found in the building and an extremely sensitive fire alarm, we cannot allow candles to be lit.

Do you provide flowers for the room?

Yes, we are able to provide displays of freshly cut flowers for your wedding.  You may of course provide your own.

Can we have live music for our ceremony?

Prior arrangement with the Hall must be made for any live music.

What music can you provide?

We have a CD player available for use during your ceremony and are happy to assist you in making your music choices. 

Can we decorate the room and when can we have access to it?

Please consult with us about your specific requirements, and if these are suitable then we will ensure you have access to the venue the day before your wedding.

Can we hold a rehearsal prior to the ceremony?

We advise that you hold a rehearsal to avoid any confusion on the big day itself.  A suitable date and time will be arranged nearer the date of your wedding by our co-ordinator.

Is there an area that we could use as a crèche?

We can provide a room for your use but would ask that you provide the childcare.  We would ask that children are supervised by you at all times.

Can you recommend companies that can supply such things as cars, flowers, photographs etc?

Whilst we do not hold a preferred suppliers list, we are happy to assist you in planning any aspect of your big day.

Can we alter room layouts if we wish?

The chairs and tables used for the ceremony can be laid out to your specification, however we are unable to move any display pieces of furniture. 

Do I need to book the registrar myself?

Yes, it is your responsibility to book and confirm the registrar well in advance of your wedding date.  Their contact details are:
