Coding Club

Bolton Central Library, Monday 24 July to Monday 21 August, 10am to 11am

Learn basic coding skills at Bolton Central Library this summer. Use creativity and problem solving to create your own animations and games. The weekly sessions will be every Monday, 10am to 11am, starting 24 July and ending on 21 August. The sessions are suitable for children aged 8 and above.

Summer Reading Challenge Animal Agents tour

To celebrate the Summer Reading Challenge join us for storytelling and encounter objects from the museum’s collection.

Wild summer crafts

Breightmet Library, Monday 24 July to Saturday 2 September, 10am to 12pm on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and 10am to 2pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Take a walk on the wild side at Breightmet Library as we celebrate this year’s Summer Reading Challenge with six weeks of FREE craft fun for all the family. We’ll be doing a different animal-themed craft every week, so whether you’re making amazing animal puppets, giant bugs, brilliant bracelets, doing awesome origami, or designing a fabulous shopping bag for this year’s Food and Drink Festival, there’s definitely something for everyone at Breightmet Library this summer. No need to book, just drop in.

Brilliant Bracelets

Have fun weaving yourself a brilliant bracelet with our artist, Ling Yang on Monday 24 July, 10am to 12pm. Whether you are a beginner or advanced, our free workshop will be great fun for you! Suitable for children aged 6+ and adults can have a go! Children under 8 should be accompanied by an adult. No need to book.

Awesome Origami

Breightmet Library Tuesday 25 July, 10am to 12pm

Have fun folding with our artist, Ling Yang. Whether you are a beginner or advanced, our free workshops will be great fun for you! Suitable for children aged 6+ and adults can have a go! Children under 8 should be accompanied by an adult. No need to book.

Puzzle Tuesday

High Street Library, Tuesday 25 July to Tuesday 29 August, 12.30pm to 5.30pm

Every Tuesday during the summer holidays come along and have a go at a selection of puzzle competitions, ranging from crosswords and anagrams to treasure hunts and codes. 

School holiday activities

Bolton Central Library and Museum, Tuesday 25 July to Saturday 2 September

During the school holidays, there will be fish feeds at 1pm every Tuesday and Thursday.

We will also have an activity session from 1.30pm - 3pm every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Suitable for ages 4 - 11.

Summer Reading Challenge sessions

Farnworth Library, Tuesday 25 July to Tuesday 29 August, 2pm to 3pm

Come along each Tuesday from 25 July to 29 August, 2pm to 3pm for Summer Reading Challenge activity sessions. Suitable for children aged 3 and above.

Slithering spiral snakes craft

Horwich Library, Wednesday 26 July, 2pm to 4pm

Come and join this year’s Summer Reading Challenge and make your own slithering spiral snake to take home.

Message with a Cipher Wheel

High Street Library, Thursday 27 July, 2pm to 2.45pm

Design and make your own cipher wheel to send secret messages to your friends.

Code Club

Westhoughton Library, Thursday 27 July to Thursday 24 August, 3pm to 4pm

Join us each Friday from 28 July to 25 August, 2pm to 3pm for animal themed stories and crafts.

Bug Hunt

Smithills Hall, Friday 28 July, 11am to 12pm and 1pm to 2pm

Join us for a fun Friday bug hunt session. Grab your nets and containers so that you can examine what you have found. Our bug expert will help you identify them and then you can let them go. Suitable for children aged 4 to 11.

Listen to a spy story and then create your own clay Animal Agent.
