    Calling all babies and their families! Join us for Arty Babies - a fortnightly baby group at Bolton Central Library and Museum. Arty Babies brings our collections and resources to life through songs, play and sensory activities. Free entry, no need to book, just pop by.     Making Landscape 1778 to 2016 - Bolton Central Library and Museum

    The museum’s art collection is represented in a new exhibition, on the lower ground floor. Entitled Making Landscape, the exhibition features a selection from 1778 – 2016, including stunning 18th century watercolours to contemporary photographs. The museum, which is situated on the top floor of the building, is now closed to the public for the duration of the Eternal Egypt gallery project. Sat 10 December to Fri 30 June, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 9am to 5pm, Wednesday 9.30am to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm.

    Meet Medieval Thriller writer Karen Maitland - Bolton Central Library and Museum

    Master storyteller of dark, atmospheric medieval thriller writing, Karen Maitland, is coming to Bolton Central Library. She will be discussing everything from pustules to dwarfs and ghost ships to lost villages that form the background to her new novel 'The Plague Charmer' - a medieval thriller set in the time of the second and more terrible plague. Learn about the real stories behind the lives of some of her more unusual characters, as well as a mysterious medieval penal colony in Somerset to which the witches, sorcerers and heretics were banished.     'The Women's Peace Crusade' film screening - Bolton Central Library and Museum

    Join us for a free film screening about the women-led demonstrations of the socialist and internationalist Women’s Peace Crusade during 1916 to 1918. The short film has been made by volunteers and archivists from towns in the North West. Bolton volunteers Barry Mills and Lois Dean, who were involved in this project will be speaking about the film. Plus, author Ali Ronan will be launching her new book ‘Crusading Women’ which tells the stories of the radical women who led the crusades. There will be an opportunity to buy the book and have it signed.
